NATURAL URGES
There are 13natural urges which should not suppress is described in Ayurveda.
अ.हृ 4
1. अधोवात – flatus (fart)
2. मल– faeces
3. मुत्र– urine
4. क्षवथु/शिंक– sneeze
5. तृट /तहान– thirst
6. क्षुधा/भूक – hunger
7. निद्रा/झोप– sleep
8. कास/खोकल्याची उबळ– cough
9. श्रमश्वास/काम केल्यावर लागणारा श्वास -breathless after exertion
10. जृम्भा /जांभई -Yawning
11. अश्रु (आनंदाश्रु/दुःखाश्रु) -tears (due to happy/ unhappy)
12. छर्दी/उलटी– vomiting
13. रेतस्/वीर्य – semen
All these natural urges should not be suppressed by force, otherwise it causes adverse effects on body
**1)अधोवात (Flatus/Farting):-
Adverse effects of suppression of the natural urge of flatus (farting)
- गुल्म tumor,
– उदावर्त gaseous goes in upward direction, sometimes feces may comes out through mouth
– उदरशूल abdominal pain
– क्लम tiredness, exhaustion without any activities
-वात,मूत्र,मल अवरोध-difficulty to pass flatus, constipation and difficulty in urination
-दृष्टिवध-loss of vision
-अग्निनाश-loss of digestive power
-हृदय रोग -diseases related to heart
-शिर:शूल-headache,
-श्वास,कास,प्रतिश्याय-diseases of Respiratory system
******Treatment of the diseases arising from suppression of flatus******
-वर्ति – Rectal and urethral suppositories
-अभ्यंग – Oil massage
-अवगाह – tub bath, sitz bath
-स्वेदन/वाफ – sweating therapy
-बस्ति – rectal enema
-मलभेदक अन्नपान – all food that help to induce purgation should be given
